DOCK JUMPING FOR BEGINNERS

- Introduction of instructors
- Introduction to Dock Diving
- Pool Safety and Event Etiquette
- On dock demonstrations for “Place and Send” or “Chase”
11:00AM – 1 PM Break in to 2 groups
11AM to 12PM – 60 minutes Group A – Dry land/Group B – Pool
12PM – 1 PM – 60 minutes Group B – Dry land/Group A – Pool
HOUR 1:
GROUP A – (10 dogs) Off dock, dry land training. Short retrieves dry land (dock prep). Waiting etiquette. Teaching the chase getting your dog to catch.
GROUP B – (10 dogs) On dock-ramp/short dock
HOUR 2: GROUPS SWITCH
1:00PM – 1:30PM Lunch provided
1:30PM-3:00PM
Open dock for all dogs with instructors. Other instructors to help those in line with dry land exercises.
SUNDAY, MARCH 3, 2024-DAY 2
ADVANCED COMPETITORS CLASS
10:00 AM
- Introduction of instructors
- Introduction to Dock Diving
- Four disciplines: Distance (“Big Air”), Speed retrieve (hydro retrieve), Takedown (“Air Retrieve”) and Catch (“Toss”)
- Major differences between venues (DockDogs, NADD, UAD, CWC, PDS, etc)
11:00AM – 1 PM Break in to 2 groups
11AM to 12PM – 60 minutes Group A – Steps to Increase Performance
- The importance of striding-hitting the mark!
- Conditioning
- Dry land training-bumper work, restrained retrieves, etc
- Event prep-training schedule, etc
- Nutrition before and during events
- Record and review every jump
12:00 PM SWITCH GROUPS
12PM – 1 PM – 60 minutes Group B – Evaluations with instructors with suggestions for more distance, striding, etc
1:00PM LUNCH
1:30PM-3:00PM Open dock for all dogs with instructors & dry land exercises
